Beit el Tawlet
Beit el Tawlet is a completely bewildering find. Where you expect the least, you will be greeted with a fresh burst of jungle, taking you back straight to the 70’s.
The shortcut is easy and it’s right in the heart of Mar Mikhael. All you have to do is head to where Tawlet restaurant is and take the elevator of the same building to the 5th floor.
Cross the doorstep and you’re already somewhere else; a different place, a different era. Retro-style furniture blends with a blast of bright colors and an invasion of greenery to welcome you to another wonderful Souk el Tayeb “Beit”.
Here again, in the same spirit of the “Beit” chain (Beit Douma, Beit el Qamar, and Beit Ammiq), it’s all about the little details. You simply can’t miss Souk el Tayeb’s signature in the meticulous details, objects of art, and unique pieces that will give your eyes something to ponder at.
Beit el Tawlet offers four very spacious and luminous double bedrooms, either with private balconies or terrace access. I stayed in room 4 and I had the chance to enjoy a great rainbow view from my terrace. Completely loved it!
At walking distance from Beirut’s most vibrant and happening area, Mar Mikhael, and the main quarters of the capital, Beit el Tawlet makes a wonderfully green escape from the city’s noise and urban landscape. Perfect for a short stay in Beirut and definitely the most charming way to evade the city inside the city.
Besides the perfect traditional Lebanese breakfast spread made of Souk el Tayeb’s fresh produce, Beit el Tawlet’s guests can enjoy 20% discount on Tawlet’s lunch buffet.
An initiative of Souk el Tayeb, and aligned with the organization’s mission to promote and preserve culinary traditions, rural heritage and the natural environment, Tawlet is a “farmers’ kitchen” where each day a different cook prepares traditional meals from their region. It offers walk-ins and Beit el Tawlet’s guests a great way to explore Lebanon’s culture and traditions through an exquisite and diversified cuisine.
Beit el Tawlet’s guests can also benefit from the cooking classes that are organized in Tawlet. Classes are available for a minimum of 6 persons and should be booked in advance.
If you’re an expat or tourist traveling to Lebanon and looking for a sweet escape and a comfortable and homey stay in Beirut’s most vibrant area, Beit el Tawlet should definitely be on top of your list. For more info, you can contact the guesthouse on: 76-472465.
